About

DJ Platterpuss is the record-crate alter ego of Earl, a Brooklyn curator and producer who started spinning 45s about ten years ago while living in Montreal. Working the decks at spots like Alexanderplatz and Notre-Dame-Des-Quilles (NDQ), he built a sound that lives entirely on 7-inch singles: deep soul and sweet R&B one minute, disco and 80s floor-fillers the next, with jazz standards, showtunes, French chanson and the occasional gloriously weird novelty record dropped in to keep everyone on their toes.

Back in New York, Platterpuss has DJed an LGBTQ+ weekend at Omega Institute, held down a month-long residency on Mondays in May at Parkside Lounge on the Lower East Side, and most recently spun at Pangea in the East Village for a post–Drag March celebration. Whether it's a sweaty dance night, a wedding with three generations on the floor, a neighborhood fundraiser or a rally afterparty, he reads the room one single at a time.
